Objectives:
Enhance Social Connectedness: We facilitate meaningful interactions within culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities and bridge gaps with broader society. Our aim is to reduce isolation and foster resilience through collaboration, participation, and support.
Bridge Service Gaps: By identifying barriers faced by CALD communities, we collaborate closely with service providers to deliver culturally appropriate support. Our tailored training sessions ensure a deep understanding of cultural diversity, promoting respect and inclusion.
Foster Collaboration: Our training sessions are designed for service providers, community leaders, and stakeholders to increase cultural competence and understanding. We foster respect for diverse backgrounds and encourage intercultural exchange.
Promote Cultural Awareness and Diversity: Our training sessions are designed for service providers, community leaders, and stakeholders to increase cultural competence and understanding. We foster respect for diverse backgrounds and encourage intercultural exchange.
Organise and Participate in Community Events: We host and actively participate in events celebrating cultural diversity. These events offer platforms for intercultural exchange and opportunities for CALD communities to engage with service providers in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
This initiative aims to strengthen engagement, relationships, and trust between emergency services and CALD communities. The network comprises members from both services and CALD community group leaders/representatives, providing a forum for two-way communication.
GMS Diversity Group - Multicultural Lunch, Conversations and Connections (MLCC)
This initiative fosters social connectedness through regular multicultural lunches that bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds. It facilitates improved communication and stronger connections with CALD community leaders and members, ensuring better access to services and creating a space for cultural exchange and collaborative dialogue.
Introduction to Diversity Awareness & Cultural Competence Training
We promote cultural sensitivity by offering Cultural Awareness Training, including Introduction to Diversity Awareness and Introduction to Cultural Competence, to foster an inclusive and multicultural Gippsland.
